A marked po­lice ve­hi­cle crashed in Princes Town on Fri­day while of­fi­cers were re­spond­ing to a fire at the Chil­dren’s Au­thor­i­ty Build­ing in Pi­paro.

Po­lice said around 4.45 pm, on Fri­day Sep­tem­ber 12, W/Sgt Bas­sarath, PC Gilbert and WPC Jack­son were trav­el­ling in a Toy­ota Hilux, reg­is­tra­tion TEH 3647, when PC Gilbert lost con­scious­ness while dri­ving on a bend af­ter the bridge on Low­er Pi­paro Road. The ve­hi­cle col­lid­ed with a con­crete re­tain­ing wall, dam­ag­ing the left front.

PC Gilbert was tak­en to the Princes Town Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty by a near­by of­fi­cer. Emer­gency Health Ser­vices treat­ed Sgt Bas­sarath and WPC Jack­son, who were tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. Sgt Bas­sarath and PC Gilbert re­main ward­ed in sta­ble con­di­tion, while WPC Jack­son was dis­charged af­ter treat­ment.

Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors processed the scene, and en­quiries are on­go­ing.
