?New­ly-ap­point­ed Chi­nese am­bas­sador to T&T Yang Youm­ing has likened T&T's warm cli­mate to the re­la­tion­ship be­tween the two coun­tries. Yang was ad­dress­ing guests dur­ing a re­cep­tion, host­ed by the Em­bassy of the Peo­ple's Re­pub­lic of Chi­na, on Wednes­day at the Hilton Trinidad and Con­fer­ence Cen­tre, St Ann's. "Warm is al­so the theme of the re­la­tion­ship be­tween Chi­na and T&T.

"This year marks the 35th an­niver­sary of the es­tab­lish­ment of diplo­mat­ic re­la­tions be­tween the two coun­tries," Yang said. He said Chi­na and T&T had en­joyed strong and sta­ble re­la­tions with fre­quent two-way, high-lev­el vis­its, mu­tu­al sup­port on in­ter­na­tion­al is­sues, strength­ened co-op­er­a­tion in the field of trade and in­vest­ment, con­struc­tion and en­er­gy and in­creas­ing mu­tu­al ex­changes in cul­ture, ed­u­ca­tion, sci­ence and tech­nol­o­gy.

For­eign Af­fairs Min­is­ter Paula Gopee-Scoon, who al­so spoke, said T&T was look­ing for­ward to even greater col­lab­o­ra­tion with Chi­na at the Unit­ed Na­tions Cli­mate Change Con­fer­ence in Copen­hagen next month. "Great ex­pec­ta­tions are on the hori­zon and to­geth­er, as equal part­ners, we will draw on each oth­er's strengths to pro­mote com­mon de­vel­op­ment and the progress of our peo­ple," Gopee-Scoon added.
