?Newly-appointed Chinese ambassador to T&T Yang Youming has likened T&T's warm climate to the relationship between the two countries. Yang was addressing guests during a reception, hosted by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, on Wednesday at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre, St Ann's. "Warm is also the theme of the relationship between China and T&T.
"This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries," Yang said. He said China and T&T had enjoyed strong and stable relations with frequent two-way, high-level visits, mutual support on international issues, strengthened co-operation in the field of trade and investment, construction and energy and increasing mutual exchanges in culture, education, science and technology.
Foreign Affairs Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon, who also spoke, said T&T was looking forward to even greater collaboration with China at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen next month. "Great expectations are on the horizon and together, as equal partners, we will draw on each other's strengths to promote common development and the progress of our people," Gopee-Scoon added.
