A 58-year-old Princes Town businessman has been charged with one count of indecent assault following an incident with a 17-year-old boy. He was granted $50,000 bail after appearing before Princes Town Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine today. He must also remain 500 metres away from the victim and must have no contact, direct or indirectly, with the teen.
According to police reports, the charges were laid after a report was made on December 11th 2020 to the Princes Town Police Station. The report alleges that the teen went into a store in Princes Town to purchase items.
At the shop, he met the proprietor who took him to a room upstairs the store and squeezed his genitals. Investigations by Cpl (Ag.) Sinclair of the Southern Division Child Protection Unit led to the arrest and charge of the business owner on April 8th 2021. The matter has been adjourned to May 7th 2021.
