A pris­ons of­fi­cer is now ward­ed in se­ri­ous con­di­tion at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex fol­low­ing an at­tempt on his life yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.

Dar­ren Mo­han had just at­tend­ed a fu­ner­al in Ca­paro and was lim­ing at a bar at around 5 pm on Wednes­day when he was threat­ened and then chopped across the face. His as­sailant is be­lieved to be an ex-in­mate.

Po­lice told Guardian Me­dia that the sus­pect walked up to the prison of­fi­cer and said: "Mo­han I go kill yuh."

He then slashed the of­fi­cer across the face.

Mo­han suf­fered se­vere in­juries, as his jaw and cheek were slashed, dam­ag­ing fa­cial nerves and ex­pos­ing his teeth through his cheek.

He un­der­went two hours of surgery and is ward­ed in se­ri­ous con­di­tion.
