Fifteen prison officers have been promoted to the First Division in the service, including five to the rank of Superintendent of Prisons.
Yesterday, Commissioner of Prisons, Dennis Pulchan, presided over the promotion of the 15 officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons to that of Superintendent of Prisons.
The promotion ceremony took place at the Prisons Sports Club, Arouca.
According to Commissioner Pulchan, the elevation of the officers was long overdue and well deserved.
Commissioner Pulchan urged them to be positive influences and maintain good work ethics.
He reminded them that with the higher rank came greater responsibility. The Prisons Commissioner also told the officers to foster good work ethics among staff. He also encouraged them to be fair, equal and just in their treatment of those under their charge.
Five officers were promoted from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons to that of Superintendent of Prisons.
Ten Prisons Supervisors, inclusive of three women, were also elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendents of Prisons.
