Pro­fes­sor Sel­wyn Cud­joe has been ap­point­ed chair­man of the Uni­ver­si­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go board.

The 13-mem­ber board will serve for a pe­ri­od of three years.

A state­ment from the Min­istry of Ter­tiary Ed­u­ca­tion and Skills Train­ing (MTEST) yes­ter­day said let­ters of ap­point­ment were is­sued to the new Chair­man and Gov­er­nors to the Board of the UTT at the Ed­u­ca­tion Tow­ers, Port-of- Spain.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, Min­is­ter of Ter­tiary Ed­u­ca­tion and Skills Train­ing, Pro­fes­sor Prakash Per­sad, con­grat­u­lat­ed the new board. He al­so en­cour­aged col­lec­tive re­spon­si­bil­i­ty and col­le­gial­i­ty as he high­light­ed that “UTT is about mix­ing dif­fer­ent tal­ents to­geth­er and be­com­ing a cat­a­lyst for the eco­nom­ic de­vel­op­ment of Trinidad and To­ba­go.”

Cud­joe, who leads the board, was al­so ap­point­ed a mem­ber of the Caribbean Air­lines board of di­rec­tors in June. The his­to­ri­an and schol­ar mount­ed a Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress plat­form dur­ing the gen­er­al elec­tion cam­paign ear­li­er this year in sup­port of the par­ty. He had been open about his pre­vi­ous sup­port for the Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment.
