Days after the Public Services Association (PSA) and Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) Darryl Dindial agreed on a ten per cent wage increase for public servants, the final discussions over the details behind the increase continued late into last night.
On Friday, Dindial confirmed that an agreement was reached with the union and its president Felisha Thomas.
The Cabinet is now expected to ratify the agreement when a note is taken before Parliament today.
However, Guardian Media understands that the details surrounding the wage hike remained unresolved as staff from the CPO’s office continued working on hammering out the final details up to 8.30 pm yesterday.
Guardian Media initially visited the CPO’s Alexandra Street, St Clair office just after 10 am yesterday, but officials said the signing of the agreement would take place later that evening, suggesting the meeting would happen at around 6 pm.
Reporters returned to the office shortly after 6 pm but no activity was seen up to 9 pm.
Guardian Media attempted to contact Dindial and Thomas several times yesterday evening but received no response up to press time. - Shane Superville
