Homicide detectives are expected to call in a psychologist to assess the mental competence of a man held in relation to the murder of 18-year-old Hannah Mathura.
Mathura's skeletal remains were found in the backyard of her family's home at Butu Street, Valsayn South, last Tuesday.
The 66-year-old man—who also is a close relative of Hannah Mathura—fled the home, but was captured at an apartment in El Dorado on Wednesday night.
Sources disclosed that officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II interviewed the suspect for the first time on Friday.
Guardian Media understands that as part of enquiries, they are checking his medical records as they believe he may have been receiving psychological help.
Detectives visited the family's home where Mathura's remains were found on Friday to photograph the scene and conduct further enquiries.
