San Fernando Mayor Junia Regrello wants the San Fernando Hill to be removed from under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and given to the City Corporation.

Regrello was speaking with the media at the Harris Promenade, San Fernando, on Monday, during a visit by Venezuelan Ambassador Alvaro Sanchez Cordero.

Regrello took Cordero on a tour of the Simon Bolivar bust on the promenade and other sites in San Fernando, including the Waterfront and Skinner Park.

Explaining that the San Fernando Hill fell under the ambit of the ministry, the mayor said, “I honestly believe that it should really fall under the City Corporation and local government reform will give us a window to address the ministry in handing over the hill to San Fernando, so we could look at San Fernando Hill as a revenue earner, as a tourist attraction and for opportunities in entertainment and otherwise.”

Cordero, who was visiting Trinidad and Tobago for the first time, said while he was highly appreciative of the Simon Bolivar bust in San Fernando, he was concerned about its current condition.

He said the bust “deserves to be in a better state” and that they would be working on having it refurbished.

With fatherhood came greater responsibility—and even greater love. The best part of having two girls is the constant love and kisses I get every single day.”
