A Plymouth woman became Tobago’s eighth murder victim after she was cornered and shot early this morning.
Police told Guardian Media that Nikeisha Sandy was walking along Arnos Vale Road in Plymouth around 6 am, when two gunmen approached her and shot her multiple times.
A DMO pronounced her dead on the scene and ordered the body removed to the Scarborough General Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem.
Sandy is the second woman to have been shot dead in less than two weeks in Tobago.
On May 4, Shellon Walters-Joseph was found dead over a precipice. Her car was then used in a drive-by shooting in Speyside.
This morning, emotions ran high, and tempers flared among relatives and villagers who vowed “a Kill for a Kill”, as crime scene investigators processed the scene.
One relative said, “What they feel, we have nobody ah wah? I going to buy big guns too. Big guns I’m going to buy! That is what they want; that is what they going to get. What they want they will get!”
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Rodhill Kirk said while he understands their anger, he is asking residents not to take matters into their own hands.
He encouraged them to work with police instead, to solve the case.
