An alleged 16-year-old thief was held by a group of residents in the Pleasantville district, moments after he robbed a female victim of a cellular phone, around 9 am on Saturday.
Reports say the woman was standing at the corner of Teak and Cedar Drive, when she was approached by the teenager who announced a robbery and told her he was holding a firearm under his t-shirt.
The thief then proceeded to relieve the victim of her cell phone.
The woman raised an alarm and the thief was quickly held by residents of the area before he could make his escape.
Officers of the Mon Repos Police Station responded to the incident and took the suspect into custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
