An early morning shooting in San Raphael led to the death of a 60-year-old man yesterday.
Police said officers were on patrol near San Raphael Junction, when they were flagged down by residents who told them that a man had been shot nearby.
On reaching the area, police found McDonald LeBlanc bleeding from gunshot wounds.
Police took LeBlanc to the Arima Hospital, where he was declared dead at around 2.05 am.
Police found three spent 9mm shells at the scene.
Speaking with Guardian Media at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, hours later, LeBlanc’s relatives said while they were still unclear over the motive of the murder, they did not think it was a robbery and suspect it may be related to a dispute LeBlanc had, although they could not divulge any details.
“Yea, he complained about people coming around him and threatening him. It has been going on for about three years now,” one relative said.
“He was dismissive about it. He didn’t take it seriously, but the other person may have been taking it seriously. At least that’s what we think.”
The relative said LeBlanc’s murder was difficult to accept.
“Like me ain’t even believe it as yet because I woke up this morning and I thinking it was like a dream,” the family member said.
The relatives said LeBlanc was a family-oriented person who enjoyed beach limes.
They said he supported himself earlier in life as a fast food delivery driver.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing investigations.
