One man was wounded during a police-involved shooting incident in Petit Valley on Monday.
According to police reports, officers of the West End Police Station were on mobile patrol along Morne Coco Road, around 7:45 pm, when they received information that two men wanted in connection with a series of robberies in the district, were observed in a white Nissan Almera motor-vehicle.
The officers proceeded to the location, where they observed the two suspects.
However, upon seeing the officers, one of the men ran off.
Police say that while they were attempting to arrest the other suspect, he attempted to draw an object resembling that of a firearm from his waist.
One of the officers discharged one round from his service pistol, hitting the suspect in his buttocks.
The 35-year-old man from Morne Coco Road, was subsequently arrested and one Glock pistol, loaded with a magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition seized from his possession.
A search of the vehicle also resulted in quantities of cocaine and marijuana being discovered.
The wounded suspect was taken to St. James Medical Facility for treatment, before being transferred to Port of Spain General Hospital, where he is warded.
