Lady Vice chair of the Peoples National Movement Camille RobinsonLady Vice-Chair of the Peoples National Movement Camille Robinson-Regis is calling on Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar to also apologise to the Syrian, Lebanese and Middle Eastern community for describing Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley as an 'Oreo'.
She made the call Thursday at the City Hall Auditorium in San Fernando during Dr Rowley's presentation of his Team Red candidates for the September 30 internal elections.
Again demanding that Persad-Bissessar apologise to Dr Rowley, Robinson-Regis waved a piece of paper in her hand, claiming she even wrote an apology for Persad-Bissessar and all the Opposition Leader has to do is sign it.
Dismissing any suggestion that the person who wrote Persad-Bissessar's speech may have thought the remark was cute, she said the reason for the attack was because it is something deeply embedded in Persad-Bissessar's DNA.
Accusing her of playing the race card to garner support, she said, "Kamla we make you out long time."
Robinson-Regis said when Persad-Bissessar described the Prime Minister as an oreo and spoke disparagingly about the one percent it was also an attack on the Syrian, Lebanese and Middle Eastern community.
She callled on Persad-Bissessar to accept that she was doing the country disservice by resorting to the race card.
Robinson- Regis said the time for the race games are long gone as we are a much more enlightened and intelligent society and expect much more from our leaders.
Persad-Bisseaar has been under fire from PNM members, from her own party members and other members of public since making the remark at the UNC Monday night forum at he Union Presbyterian School at Claxton Bay.
