An 83-year-old pen­sion­er, of Pe­tit Bourg, San Juan, was as­sault­ed and robbed by a man she knows in the neigh­bour­hood.

The vic­tim was in her house around 2.30 pm on Mon­day, when the man walked in­to her liv­ing room.

He an­nounced a rob­bery, cov­ered the vic­tim’s mouth with his hand and at­tempt­ed to gag her with a cloth.

Af­ter this proved fu­tile, the sus­pect dragged the vic­tim in­to the bed­room, de­mand­ing cash and valu­ables.

Rum­mag­ing in a cup­board, the sus­pect stole three cell phones, one Ap­ple iPad, and a quan­ti­ty of undis­closed US and TT cur­ren­cy, along with Roy­al Bank, First Cit­i­zens and Sco­tia­bank deb­it cards.

He lat­er es­caped on foot.

The vic­tim man­aged to raise an alarm, and neigh­bours con­tact­ed the po­lice, who lat­er took her to the San Juan Health Cen­tre for treat­ment.
