School children in San Fernando are being urged to be vigilant after a 15-year-old schoolboy was robbed while waiting for his parents.
A report stated that the student of the ASJA Boys’ College was among two others sitting in the pavilion on the second class ground in Skinner Park.
Three men approached them menacingly and robbed the New Grant teen of his Samsung Galaxy S9+, valued at US$161 and $100 cash.
The other boys were not robbed.
The men ran off along the Rienzi Kirton Highway and were not caught up to yesterday.
A report was made to the San Fernando Police and PC James of the Criminal Investigations Departments began inquiries.
Many school children pass through Skinner Park after the San Fernando City Corporation removed the pavement to widen the road.
Some students wait for their parents at the pavilion, which is sometimes taken up by homeless people. A previous arrangement saw parents parking at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts until their children finish school. That arrangement was scrapped.
In addition to ASJA Boys’ College, the park is used by ASJA Girls’ College, San Fernando Central Secondary School and the San Fernando West Secondary School.
