The sales team from Sangeet 106.1 FM yesterday embarked on a beach clean campaign starting at Maracas Bay.
Advertising Manager Kristal Harford said the station embarked on the initiative because beach going one of the few recreational activities still available in the current COVID-19 climate.
“Normally we would have Caura Fest during this time, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic the station has decided to flip the script and help the environment rather than be a contributor to some of the pollutions and various other adversities that come from such events,” she said.
“In light of that, we started today at Maracas. We’re also not waiting for garbage to accumulate. We’re walking around to beachgoers asking them to put their garbage into our bins as well as using our sign to take pictures.”
Harford said they hope to bring a sense of awareness and pride to the country. The plan is to move through the beaches on the north coast, then go to other parts of the country.
