?East In­di­an ra­dio sta­tion Sangeet 106.1FM on Sun­day launched the na­tion's newest Car­ni­val band for C2K10, ti­tled "Jhal­wa... The Re­al Fire." Sangeet 106.1FM is a part of the Trinidad Broad­cast­ing Com­pa­ny. Held at the Zen night­club, Keate Street, Port-of-Spain, scores of mas lovers came out to wit­ness the pre­sen­ta­tion of eight sec­tions, de­signed and pro­duced by leg­endary Car­ni­val band, Harts. Band­leader Luis Hart said "Jhal­wa" was aimed at high­light­ing the con­tri­bu­tion of the East In­di­an's com­mu­ni­ty to T&T's Car­ni­val. Hart said all eight all-in­clu­sive sec­tions re­flect­ed the un­der­ly­ing con­cept of the meta­mor­pho­sis of fire.

"Jhal­wa cel­e­brates the East In­di­an cul­ture and of­fers mas­quer­aders beau­ti­ful cos­tumes at aford­able prices," he said. Al­though "Jhal­wa" was in­flu­enced pri­mar­i­ly by the East In­di­an cul­ture, Hart stressed all mas lovers were wel­comed to take part. The evening cli­maxed on a high note when big band Kar­ma, fea­tur­ing Ravi B, Nisha B and Andy Singh, took the stage, de­liv­er­ing a riv­et­ing per­for­mance, along­side TBC DJs, Code 9 of 95.1FM The Best Mix and Vi­jay the Mas­ter­Mix­er of Su­per­Sta­tion 106.1 FM. DJ Sim­ply E kept the crowd en­ter­tained in the pre­lude to the launch with a mix of chut­ney, so­ca and tech­no.
