?East Indian radio station Sangeet 106.1FM on Sunday launched the nation's newest Carnival band for C2K10, titled "Jhalwa... The Real Fire." Sangeet 106.1FM is a part of the Trinidad Broadcasting Company. Held at the Zen nightclub, Keate Street, Port-of-Spain, scores of mas lovers came out to witness the presentation of eight sections, designed and produced by legendary Carnival band, Harts. Bandleader Luis Hart said "Jhalwa" was aimed at highlighting the contribution of the East Indian's community to T&T's Carnival. Hart said all eight all-inclusive sections reflected the underlying concept of the metamorphosis of fire.
"Jhalwa celebrates the East Indian culture and offers masqueraders beautiful costumes at afordable prices," he said. Although "Jhalwa" was influenced primarily by the East Indian culture, Hart stressed all mas lovers were welcomed to take part. The evening climaxed on a high note when big band Karma, featuring Ravi B, Nisha B and Andy Singh, took the stage, delivering a riveting performance, alongside TBC DJs, Code 9 of 95.1FM The Best Mix and Vijay the MasterMixer of SuperStation 106.1 FM. DJ Simply E kept the crowd entertained in the prelude to the launch with a mix of chutney, soca and techno.
