The Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT) has elected a new Board of Directors to serve for the 2026–2028 term, with Kevin Kissoon of Tru Valu Supermarkets taking over as president.
The election took place during the association’s Annual General Meeting at Valpark Chinese Restaurant, Valpark Shopping Plaza, Morequito Avenue.
Kissoon will lead the association as it focuses on advocacy, industry development and community engagement over the next two years.
He brings more than 20 years of experience in retail, supply chain management, procurement and commercial operations to the position. He also holds an MBA and previously served as SATT’s vice-president of projects.
In that role, Kissoon developed an understanding of the association’s membership and the issues affecting the supermarket industry.
According to SATT, his professional career has also included a focus on customer engagement, people development and partnerships across the supply chain.
The association said he has also supported opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises and fostered relationships across the wider retail sector.
The new executive committee includes Aadithya Persad of Persad’s D Food King as vice-president of projects, while Shivan Ramlogan of SS Persad Supermarkets will serve as vice-president of marketing.
Biondi Bachew of West Bees Supermarkets has been elected treasurer, with Kenneth Veck of Massy Stores serving as assistant treasurer.
Nadia Beharry of Croisee Supermarkets will serve as secretary, while Bachew will also remain on the board as immediate past president.
Other members of the 2026–2028 board are Heeranand Maharaj of Better Deal Supermarkets, Cindy Khamram of JTA Supermarkets, Shivan Bhaggan of Santa Cruz Food Basket, Taran Maharaj of Bones Price Cutters Supermarket, Ravil Sookhoo of MS Foodcity Supermarket, Dillon Teelucksingh of Xtra Foods Supermarkets, Christopher Low of Sing Chong Supermarket and Ravi Diptee of Plaza Complex Shop N Stop Supermarket.
The new board is expected to represent the interests of supermarket operators while engaging stakeholders on issues affecting the retail industry
