A dri­ve-by shoot­ing in Sea Lots ear­ly yes­ter­day morn­ing end­ed in the death of a 33-year-old man and the wound­ing of a woman, po­lice said.

Po­lice said Christo­pher Samp­son, alias ‘Bri­an was with a group of peo­ple near the Sea Lots Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre on Pi­o­neer Dri­ve, around 1 am, when a white Hon­da City drove near them.

Gun­shots were heard as the car sped off and res­i­dents no­ticed Samp­son and a 21-year-old woman bleed­ing.

Res­i­dents took the in­jured to the hos­pi­tal, where Samp­son was de­clared dead at 1.27 am.

Po­lice said the woman was in sta­ble con­di­tion.

Of­fi­cers of the Port-of-Spain Di­vi­sion and In­ter-Agency Task Force (IATF) vis­it­ed the scene and found 34 spent 5.56 shells and 3 spent 7.62 shells.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion I Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.

In an un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent, an ar­gu­ment end­ed with a 54-year-old man in Curepe be­ing in­jured on Fri­day night.

Po­lice said the man got in­to an al­ter­ca­tion with his sis­ter’s boyfriend, who shot him in his chest on Ab­dool Lane, off the South­ern Main Road, af­ter 10 pm.

The sus­pect fled the scene in a car.

Po­lice said the in­jured man fell in­to a drain and dam­aged a wa­ter pipeline, caus­ing the wa­ter to spray around him.

He was tak­en to the hos­pi­tal by re­spond­ing of­fi­cers. He re­mains in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors found a gun be­lieved to have been used by the at­tack­er. - Shane Su­perville
