A drive-by shooting in Sea Lots early yesterday morning ended in the death of a 33-year-old man and the wounding of a woman, police said.
Police said Christopher Sampson, alias ‘Brian was with a group of people near the Sea Lots Community Centre on Pioneer Drive, around 1 am, when a white Honda City drove near them.
Gunshots were heard as the car sped off and residents noticed Sampson and a 21-year-old woman bleeding.
Residents took the injured to the hospital, where Sampson was declared dead at 1.27 am.
Police said the woman was in stable condition.
Officers of the Port-of-Spain Division and Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) visited the scene and found 34 spent 5.56 shells and 3 spent 7.62 shells.
Officers of the Region I Homicide Bureau are continuing enquiries.
In an unrelated incident, an argument ended with a 54-year-old man in Curepe being injured on Friday night.
Police said the man got into an altercation with his sister’s boyfriend, who shot him in his chest on Abdool Lane, off the Southern Main Road, after 10 pm.
The suspect fled the scene in a car.
Police said the injured man fell into a drain and damaged a water pipeline, causing the water to spray around him.
He was taken to the hospital by responding officers. He remains in a stable condition.
Investigators found a gun believed to have been used by the attacker. - Shane Superville
