Two fe­male se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cers on du­ty at the Pa­lo Seco Sec­ondary School were robbed at gun­point on Tues­day morn­ing.

Around 2.30 am a 39-year-old se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer was on du­ty on the school com­pound when two sus­pects armed with shot­guns ac­cost­ed her. They tied her up and robbed her of $2,000, a cell­phone, her MTS work jack­et and work shoes. The oth­er se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer, age 38, was in a sil­ver Toy­ota Aqua when the sus­pects tied her up and es­caped in her car val­ued at $75,000.

The sus­pects al­so stole her purse, na­tion­al iden­ti­fi­ca­tion card, bank card, $100 in cash, cell­phone and oth­er items. Of­fi­cers from the Siparia CID, South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, ERP Unit, Oropouche, Point Fortin and South­ern Di­vi­sion mo­bile units re­spond­ed but the as­sailants were not caught. PC Ma­haraj is in­ves­ti­gat­ing.

Pe­nal house dam­aged in East­er Mon­day fire

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to the cause of a house fire in Pe­nal on East­er Mon­day.

An­janie Boodoo, 65, was at church when she re­ceived word that her fam­i­ly’s prop­er­ty at Teemul Trace, Clarke Road, was on fire. She made a re­port to the po­lice just be­fore 2 pm.

The house, a 25 x 30 ply and gal­vanised struc­ture, was not com­plete­ly de­stroyed. Of­fi­cers from the Pe­nal Fire Sta­tion, head­ed by FS­SO Mo­hammed, re­spond­ed.

In an­oth­er in­ci­dent on Tues­day, around 12.30 am, an apart­ment at Joseph Av­enue, John Jules Trace, Fyz­abad, was par­tial­ly dam­aged.

Around 11.30 pm, 35-year-old Levi Mead heard a crack­ling sound and, up­on check­ing, saw his sis­ter’s apart­ment on fire. He act­ed quick­ly and ex­tin­guished the blaze with a wa­ter hose. His sis­ter was not home at the time of the fire. Of­fi­cers from the Siparia Fire Sta­tion un­der FS­SO Jankie vis­it­ed the scene and Fyz­abad po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
