A 23-year-old security officer will appear before the Siparia Magistrates’ Virtual Court today, on a sexual assault charge.
According to an official statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the man—who is from Fyzabad—will be answering to one count of sexual penetration of a minor.
The TTPS reports that the man was arrested on Wednesday 29th July 2020, following investigations into the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl of the district, by officers from the South Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU).
The victim alleges that the man took her to a location where they engaged in sexual activities.
A report was made subsequently to CPU officers in February 2019, and a full-scale investigation resulted in the man’s arrest.
The suspect will answer to the charge before a Siparia Magistrate today, Thursday 30th July 2020.
The investigation, which was conducted by W/Cpl (Ag) Renn-Lashley of the South Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU), was headed by W/Supt (Ag) George and ASP (Ag) Sookdeo; and supervised by Insp (Ag) Roberts.
