A wall in­side First Cit­i­zens Bank in Siparia was dam­aged af­ter a se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer’s firearm ac­ci­den­tal­ly dis­charged on Mon­day.

The in­ci­dent took place around 4.25 pm on the bank’s up­per floor, in the men’s wash­room. Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, the 42-year-old es­tate con­sta­ble had placed his firearm on the counter to use the wash­room. As he picked it back up, the weapon dis­charged, strik­ing a wall.

No one was in­jured. The of­fi­cer re­port­ed the in­ci­dent to his su­per­vi­sor, closed the bank at 6.20 pm, and lat­er went to the po­lice sta­tion.

Po­lice pho­tographed the firearm, am­mu­ni­tion, spent shell, and the of­fi­cer’s Firearm User’s Li­cence. Of­fi­cers were ex­pect­ed to vis­it the bank yes­ter­day as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ue.
