A scuf­fle at a Grand Bazaar casi­no be­tween a se­nior po­lice­man and a man­ag­er led to the of­fi­cer call­ing for back-up and seek­ing the ar­rest of one of the se­cu­ri­ty guards.

Po­lice said the in­ci­dent hap­pened at 11.41 p.m. on Fri­day when the off-du­ty of­fi­cer got in­to an ar­gu­ment at the casi­no.

The man­ag­er called in se­cu­ri­ty to es­cort the of­fi­cer off the com­pound. How­ev­er, the of­fi­cer claimed one of the guards as­sault­ed him by grab­bing his hand and push­ing him in­to one of the gam­bling ma­chines.

The of­fi­cer called the po­lice, and of­fi­cers of the St Joseph Po­lice Sta­tion vis­it­ed the scene.

The se­nior po­lice­man point­ed out one of the guards and iden­ti­fied him as the one who as­sault­ed him.

Re­spond­ing of­fi­cers re­port­ed the se­nior po­lice­man as be­hav­ing “in an ag­gres­sive man­ner” and said he de­mand­ed the se­cu­ri­ty guard be ar­rest­ed.

How­ev­er, po­lice told him that, giv­en the cir­cum­stances, they could not ar­rest the guard at the time and that en­quiries would have to be car­ried out.

Po­lice sug­gest­ed that the se­nior po­lice­man seek med­ical at­ten­tion.
