A scuffle at a Grand Bazaar casino between a senior policeman and a manager led to the officer calling for back-up and seeking the arrest of one of the security guards.
Police said the incident happened at 11.41 p.m. on Friday when the off-duty officer got into an argument at the casino.
The manager called in security to escort the officer off the compound. However, the officer claimed one of the guards assaulted him by grabbing his hand and pushing him into one of the gambling machines.
The officer called the police, and officers of the St Joseph Police Station visited the scene.
The senior policeman pointed out one of the guards and identified him as the one who assaulted him.
Responding officers reported the senior policeman as behaving “in an aggressive manner” and said he demanded the security guard be arrested.
However, police told him that, given the circumstances, they could not arrest the guard at the time and that enquiries would have to be carried out.
Police suggested that the senior policeman seek medical attention.
