Shark attack victim Peter Smith may be transferred to Trinidad, hospital officials confirmed to Guardian Media.
Smith, a British national, attacked while he was bathing at the Courland Bay this morning.
He sustained severe injuries to his left hand, left thigh, and stomach.
He was attacked by a bull shark approximately 10 meters away from the shore.
The shark, estimated to be between 8 to 10 feet in length and 2 feet in width, caused severe injuries to Smith, severing his left hand from the elbow down, severing his left thigh, and resulting in a laceration to his stomach.
Smith received critical care and underwent several life-saving surgeries.
He is in stable condition in the ICU unit.
Secretary for the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection told the media his limbs were saved.
She said, "So far, it seems like all of his appendages have been saved. We will provide a comprehensive status report tomorrow."
