A mother got her worst nightmare on Wednesday when she saw the body of her murdered son circulating on social media from her home in New York.

Christopher “Johnnie” Kanhai, a shopkeeper was shot dead right at his parlour at Chameleon Avenue, in Phase 6, La Horquetta. Another man, police said, was also shot and wounded.

The incident occurred at about 2 pm.

The father of the murder victim, Terrence Nanan, stood in shock as he looked at the lifeless body of his son sprawled across the parlour’s entrance.

He said minutes after his son was killed a photo of his son’s body was posted on social media. This prompted his wife to call him to ask if it was true.

While police are yet to determine a motive for the killing, residents believe that there was an ongoing turf war in the area where senseless shootings and murders were taking place.

The murder toll is now at 136.

During my consultation with Ms Brafit CEO Nicole Joseph-Chin, what was supposed to be a simple mastectomy bra fitting became something much deeper. Her thoughtful questions unlocked emotions I didn’t even realise I was holding in. She comforted, reassured, and helped me face the truth of what was coming. That bra wasn’t just clothing—it was the first real symbol of life after surgery.
