The Emmanuel Community, which is a lay Christian Community whose ministry is to foster good family life, is set to receive additional financing for the organisation’s commitment to help families in need of assistance
A financial donation to the community will be made by former Power and Groovy Soca Monarch Shurwayne Winchester who has pledged to commit part of his proceeds from upcoming his concert titled Shurwayne The Xperience, which takes place next week.
John Mackay, a spokesman for The Emmanuel Community, said his organisation was extremely thankful for Winchester’s support to the organisation as “there are many families particularly with only single providers whose income is insufficient to adequately provide the proper nourishment, clothing etc for their families.
“We seek to assist these families by providing non-perishable foodstuff, clothing etc. as well as counselling to help improve their lot.”
He added: “We help at the present time on a regular basis 38 families with six or eight persons on a bi-weekly cycle.”
He also noted that the financial and living situation of each of these families was investigated before assistance was given, in order to guard against fraud.
He said the mercy ministry was established out of the need to provide help to families in dire need of assistance.
‘We rely solely on donations from the public and corporations for all we can give. We are therefore limited by the amount we receive. We would like to be able to do more but the current financial state of our country has reduced the donation we receive. We are thankful for any help that is available,’ Mackay said.
Winchester, who has branded himself as the iron man, has this Carnival season turned up the tempo with the release of his power soca Come Back.
Infused with the iron and brass rhythm, the song is about the elements which make up power soca and Carnival resurfacing in 2019 soca.

Among the cast of soca artiste are soca diva Destra Garcia, Iwer George and Swappi.
