Six suspects were arrested and a firearm, ammunition, and quantities of cannabis seized during ongoing State of Emergency operations across the Central, Southern, and South Western Divisions on October 4, 2025.
In the Central Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Carapichaima district, where they intercepted a vehicle with two male occupants. A search of the vehicle uncovered one revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition and one spent round. A 29-year-old man of Carapichaima and a 33-year-old man of Freeport were arrested. The operation was coordinated by Supt Glodon, ASP Harrylal, and supervised by Cpl Samaroo and Cpl (Ag.) Phillip.
In the Southern Division, Task Force officers conducted another exercise between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. during which they arrested a 33-year-old fisherman and a 24-year-old welder, both of Moruga, for possession of quantities of cannabis. This exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Simon, Supt Jaikaran, ASP Ramsaran, ASP Ramlogan, and Insp Wilkinson.
Additionally, detectives of the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department arrested two suspects, aged 37 and 29, both of Siparia, in connection with a report of Wounding with Intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm against a male victim on September 18, 2025.
The men face charges including Wounding with Intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm, Possession of Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Firearm to Endanger Life, and Possession of Ammunition to Endanger Life. They are expected to appear before a Master of the High Court this week.
