Six sus­pects were ar­rest­ed and a firearm, am­mu­ni­tion, and quan­ti­ties of cannabis seized dur­ing on­go­ing State of Emer­gency op­er­a­tions across the Cen­tral, South­ern, and South West­ern Di­vi­sions on Oc­to­ber 4, 2025.

In the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, Task Force of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise be­tween 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Cara­pichaima dis­trict, where they in­ter­cept­ed a ve­hi­cle with two male oc­cu­pants. A search of the ve­hi­cle un­cov­ered one re­volver loaded with five rounds of am­mu­ni­tion and one spent round. A 29-year-old man of Cara­pichaima and a 33-year-old man of Freeport were ar­rest­ed. The op­er­a­tion was co­or­di­nat­ed by Supt Glodon, ASP Har­ry­lal, and su­per­vised by Cpl Sama­roo and Cpl (Ag.) Phillip.

In the South­ern Di­vi­sion, Task Force of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an­oth­er ex­er­cise be­tween 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. dur­ing which they ar­rest­ed a 33-year-old fish­er­man and a 24-year-old welder, both of Moru­ga, for pos­ses­sion of quan­ti­ties of cannabis. This ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt Si­mon, Supt Jaikaran, ASP Ram­saran, ASP Ram­lo­gan, and In­sp Wilkin­son.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, de­tec­tives of the Siparia Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment ar­rest­ed two sus­pects, aged 37 and 29, both of Siparia, in con­nec­tion with a re­port of Wound­ing with In­tent to do Griev­ous Bod­i­ly Harm against a male vic­tim on Sep­tem­ber 18, 2025.

The men face charges in­clud­ing Wound­ing with In­tent to do Griev­ous Bod­i­ly Harm, Pos­ses­sion of Firearm, Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion, Pos­ses­sion of Firearm to En­dan­ger Life, and Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion to En­dan­ger Life. They are ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Mas­ter of the High Court this week.
