An acting Senior Superintendant of the Fraud Squad Unit along with his wife have appeared before an Arima magistrate Wednesday, charged for assault and malicious damage.
Reports indicate that on March 24 2018, Lindon Greenidge, 56, who has 37 years' service in the Police Service, allegedly assaulted a 49-year-old woman and maliciously damaged her pair of eyeglasses and cell phone.
A report was made to the Proffessional Standards Bureau (PSB) and an investigation was conducted.
On July 15 2019 Greenidge and his wife, Vernice Edwards Greenidge, 49, were arrested at their home.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Roger Gaspard, SC, gave advice and the following charges were laid:
1. Greenidge was charged for the offence of;
a) Assault occasioning actual bodily harm to the victim and
b) Malicious damages to the victim's eyeglasses valued TT$2400 and a cellphone valued US$150.
2) His wife Vernice, was charged for the offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
All charges were laid by ASP Anthony Remmy.
The investigation was led by Ag. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Totaram Dookhie and included Insp Sheridon Hills, Sgt. Andell Rollocks, WCpl Natalie Carthy.
All charges were laid indictably.
They will reappear in court on July 31, 2019.
