A member of the Defence Force has been held with ammunition while attempting to travel to Tobago.
Police reports say around 1 PM yesterday Estate Constable Sankar was performing X-ray screening operations at the domestic checkpoint at Piarco International Airport when he had cause to screen a bag belonging to the said suspect, a 25-year-old serving member of the Trinidad &Tobago Defence Force attached to Camp Ogden.
Reports say, upon screening the bag Sankar observed three (3) metal objects resembling that of ammunition in the front pocket.
Based on his observations a further search was conducted and two (2) rounds of 9mm ammunition, together with one (1) round of 5.56 ammunition were discovered.
The soldier was arrested and charged with the offence of Possession of Ammunition.
