A Spe­cial Re­serve Po­lice (SRP), who is al­leged to have stolen mar­i­jua­na plants from an un­oc­cu­pied apart­ment in Ari­ma, is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear in court to­day on two mis­be­hav­iour in pub­lic of­fice charges. 

In a press re­lease is­sued yes­ter­day, the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) Cor­po­rate Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Unit said SRP John Black­man was charged on Sun­day at the end of an in­ves­ti­ga­tion by the Pro­fes­sion­al Stan­dards Bu­reau (PSB). 

Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease, last Wednes­day, Black­man and an­oth­er of­fi­cer, who was al­so as­signed to the TTPS’s Fa­cil­i­ties Man­age­ment Unit, were on pa­trol in Mal­oney when they de­vi­at­ed from their as­signed area. 

The of­fi­cers re­port­ed­ly ren­dezvoused with a grey Nis­san Fron­tier and made their way to a town­house at Green­vale Park, La Hor­quet­ta. 

The of­fi­cers al­leged­ly gained en­try to the un­oc­cu­pied apart­ment and pro­ceed­ed to steal a quan­ti­ty of ful­ly grown mar­i­jua­na trees. 

Some of the trees were placed in the Nis­san Fron­tier, with some be­ing placed in the po­lice ve­hi­cle. 

Black­man is al­leged to have dropped some of the trees at his home, while he took the re­main­der to the La Hor­quet­ta Po­lice Sta­tion, made a sta­tion di­ary en­try and sub­mit­ted a form for the trees to be de­stroyed. 

The fol­low­ing day, de­tec­tives of the PSB led by Se­nior Supt Suzzette Mar­tin, Supt Mon­trichard, and In­spec­tor Syl­van ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at Black­man’s home where they found and seized the stolen trees. 

The re­lease stat­ed that to­tal street val­ue of trees, in­clud­ing those that were lodged at the sta­tion, was $694,166. 

Black­man was charged with mis­be­hav­ing in pub­lic of­fice by mak­ing a false sta­tion di­ary en­try and by traf­fick­ing mar­i­jua­na af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tors sought ad­vice from Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP) Roger Gas­pard, SC. 

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion was al­so con­duct­ed by Sgt Mo­hammed, Cpls Smith and Joe­field, of the PSB.
