Special Reserve Police officer Anton Philip was granted $250,000 bail after appearing before Master of the High Court Indira Chinebas today, charged with manslaughter.
Philip, 22, is accused of killing his colleague, 38-year-old Jamal Charles, who was on duty in the guard room at the Ministry of Rural Development, Kent House, Maraval, on September 11, when he was shot in the neck. Charles was buried on Tuesday with a partial military send-off.
Philip was charged on Monday on the advice of acting Director of Public Prosecutions Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal. He returns to court on January 12, 2026.
