A 36-year-old man has ap­peared in court charged with the mur­der of 22-year-old Joshua For­tune, which oc­curred in Sep­tem­ber 2019.

In a me­dia re­lease the TTPS said Kevin Michael Als aka ‘Kevin Alves’, of Up­per Belle Vue Road, St. James, was charged with the of­fence when he ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Mau­reen Ba­boolal-Gafoor in the Port of Spain Mag­is­trates’ Court yes­ter­day.

The mat­ter was ad­journed to Au­gust 23, 2023.

Of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to a re­port of loud ex­plo­sions on Wednes­day 18 Sep­tem­ber, 2019, at Long Cir­cu­lar, St. James, where they found the body of a male vic­tim with mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by W/ASP (Ag.) Bridglal and In­sps. Lynch and Mon­groo, all of Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI), Re­gion One, with the as­sis­tance of of­fi­cers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion.

Po­lice say a male sus­pect was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the of­fence on Ju­ly 27, 2023.

Als was charged by WPC Fred­er­ick fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Act­ing Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Joan Hon­ore-Paul, on Ju­ly 31.

Sher­lon Brown aka ‘Big Meesh’ and Marc An­tho­ny Benois, were pre­vi­ous­ly charged in con­nec­tion with this mur­der.
