A 36-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of 22-year-old Joshua Fortune, which occurred in September 2019.
In a media release the TTPS said Kevin Michael Als aka ‘Kevin Alves’, of Upper Belle Vue Road, St. James, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The matter was adjourned to August 23, 2023.
Officers responded to a report of loud explosions on Wednesday 18 September, 2019, at Long Circular, St. James, where they found the body of a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigations were supervised by W/ASP (Ag.) Bridglal and Insps. Lynch and Mongroo, all of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region One, with the assistance of officers of the Western Division.
Police say a male suspect was arrested in connection with the offence on July 27, 2023.
Als was charged by WPC Frederick following advice received from Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul, on July 31.
Sherlon Brown aka ‘Big Meesh’ and Marc Anthony Benois, were previously charged in connection with this murder.
