A 21-year-old man of St Joseph was shot and killed near his home on Sunday afternoon, in what police suspect was a gang-related attack.

Police said Isaiah Dennis was walking on Centre Trace, La Seiva, St Joseph, around 4 pm, when he was approached by two men he knew.

Residents later reported hearing gunshots,  They found Dennis bleeding from the head and buttocks.

Two men also were seen running away from the scene.

Officers of the St Joseph CID and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II visited the scene with a District Medical Officer who declared Dennis dead.

Officers of the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU) found four spent 9 mm shells at the scene.

When Guardian Media visited the scene on Sunday afternoon, emotional relatives could be heard sobbing.  They asked police to view Dennis' body before it was removed.

Police said Dennis was known to divisional police relating to several matters.
