A Couva man who witnessed his car being stolen from in front of his friend’s house in St Augustine on Friday acted quickly and jumped into his friend’s car to follow the thieves who later abandoned the vehicle.
The 22-year-old man of Union Village, Couva – arrived at his friend’s house at College Trace, St Augustine around midnight on February 24 – and parked his silver Nissan Latio in front the apartment.
Upon exiting the building around 2.20 am with the friend to go on an errand, the man observed three men seated in his car as it was driven off.
As the owner contacted the police to report the theft, the friend began following the car as the suspects drove along Watts Street, Curepe and then onto Freeman Road which was a dead end.
Observing the suspects, the owner saw the three men exit the car and run towards the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, where they escaped.
