One of the suspects in the kidnapping of Dr. Rudradeva Sharma and Dr. Prem Vijay Naidoo, is expected to appear before a San Fernando magistrate this morning.
The 19-year-old man is charged with two counts of kidnapping, as well as charges relating to the deaths of Dr Sharma and the suspect’s accomplice 19-year-old Akeem Marine.
Sharma and Marine were killed from injuries sustained in the crash.
The other remaining suspect, aged 17 years, was taken back to the San Fernando General Hospital yesterday, after he complained about body pains.
Both suspects were held after they crashed Dr Sharma's sports utility vehicle along the Solomon Hochoy Highway around 1.50 am on Wednesday 15 January, during a kidnapping attempt.
Dr. Rudradeva Sharma and his colleague, Dr. Prem Vijay Naidoo, were accosted at Rushworth Street Extension in San Fernando, in the wee hours of last Wednesday, and were robbed and bound by the three suspects, who put them in the trunk of Dr Sharma's Honda CRV.
The suspects were heading north along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the Macaulay area, when they lost control of the vehicle and it flipped several times.
Dr Rudradeva Sharma was the nephew of former minister and Member of Parliament Chandresh Sharma.
His funeral service took place on Sunday at his La Romaine home under Hindu rights.
