The Police Service is sending a stern reminder to citizens that homemade shotguns are illegal, and persons found with them will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
This comes as Central Division Task Force (CDTF) Officers seized yet another illegal, homemade shotgun yesterday, in the Tabaquite community.
An official report from the Police Service reports that CDTF officers received information which led them to Main Road, Tabaquite, at 1:15 pm on July 23rd, where they encountered a male suspect.
The police officers reportedly searched the premises in which the man resides, where they found one 12-gauge homemade shotgun fitted with one round of 12-gauge ammunition. The weapon had been concealed under a piece of discoloured vinyl in a grassy area at the backyard of the premises.
The suspect was immediately arrested and is expected to be charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition
