To­ba­go has record­ed its first mur­der for the year, with the vic­tim iden­ti­fied as 15-year-old Beris Joseph, a fourth-form stu­dent of Sig­nal Hill Sec­ondary School.

Joseph’s body was dis­cov­ered on Sat­ur­day morn­ing in the Mt. Hay area, lo­cat­ed be­tween Pa­tience Hill and Black Rock. Res­i­dents re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots overnight, and his life­less body was lat­er found on the road­way. He was from Gold­en Lane.

One res­i­dent told Guardian Me­dia the child’s moth­er is in Trinidad and mul­ti­ple at­tempts had been made to help the him over the years. The res­i­dent be­lieves his death is linked to a shoot­ing, which hap­pened a cou­ple of days ago.
