A 14-year-old boy remained warded in a stable condition at hospital yesterday, after being shot by his cousin as the two were playing with a gun they found.
Police said the two boys reportedly found the firearm in a forested area at Cake Lands, La Canoa Road, Santa Cruz; and were pretending to shoot one another when the incident occurred.
Officers of the Santa Cruz CID and North Eastern Division Task Force responded to reports of a shooting in the area, around 9:30 am on October 24.
The victim was shot in the lower left leg.
The officers took the teenager to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope – where he was treated and warded up to yesterday.
Officers later recovered a shotgun and one 12-gauge cartridge casing.
The victim along with his father was later interviewed by lawmen at hospital.
