Three individuals were arrested, and a firearm, ammunition, and cannabis were seized during anti-crime exercises conducted in the Northern and North Central Divisions on Thursday.

In the first operation, officers of the Northern Division Task Force, while conducting an exercise in the La Horquetta District, discovered a crocus bag containing a homemade shotgun and 12-gauge ammunition along Arena Road in Brazil Village.

In a separate exercise in the Arima Business District, Eastern Main Road D’Abadie, La Horquetta, and Pinto Districts, officers observed a Toyota Corolla traveling along Pinto Road that matched the description of a vehicle involved in a shooting incident in Maracas St. Joseph.

The vehicle was intercepted, and although no illegal items were found, the driver was arrested and taken to the Arima Police Station for further inquiries.

Further exercises by the North Central Division Task Force resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of 1.76 kilograms of cannabis with an estimated street value of $52,800TT. During the operation, officers intercepted a silver Toyota Fielder Wagon in Trincity with two male occupants. A search of the vehicle revealed the cannabis.

The suspects are expected to be charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
