Two men and a 17-year-old boy have been remanded into custody after appearing in court charged in relation to the murder PC Kryston Ramirez.
Alex Sumair, 20, and Marvin Madoo, 23, along with the teen appeared before Magistrate Avion Gill in the Arima Magistrates’ Court.
Madoo was charged exclusively with the officer’s murder while he and Sumair were also charged with gun and ammunition possession.
Sumair and Madoo were remanded to the Golden Grove Prison while the teen was sent to the Youth Training Center.
The charges were laid on Thursday evening by Sgt Lunch of Homicide Region 2.
Police said two of the three accused were arrested during an Operation Strike Back exercise in the Carapo and Pytonville areas between December 17 and December 18.
According to a police report, at about 2.30 pm on December 16 two masked men entered Classy Bar located at Carapo Main Road, Arima, when one of the suspects, pointed a gun at Ramirez and opened fire on him.
Ramirez was assigned to the Guard and Emergency Branch.
Attorney Fareed Ali represented both the 17-year-old boy and Sumair while Joshua Hamlet appeared for Madoo.
