Tobago COVID-19 update: 3 deaths, 141 new cases last week

There were three new deaths—two ful­ly vac­ci­nat­ed peo­ple and one un­vac­ci­nat­ed per­son—from COVID-19 in To­ba­go, dur­ing the pe­ri­od Sun­day 7 to Sat­ur­day 13 Au­gust 2022, ac­cord­ing to the lat­est week­ly up­date from the Di­vi­sion of Health, Well­ness and So­cial Pro­tec­tion, in the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA).  

To­ba­go’s death toll from the dis­ease is 277, as at Sat­ur­day, Au­gust 13.  No COVID-19 deaths had been record­ed the week be­fore, Sun­day 31 Ju­ly to Sat­ur­day 6 Au­gust 2022.

In ad­di­tion, the THA Health Di­vi­sion re­port notes 141 more peo­ple test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19 in To­ba­go, last week. The num­ber of ac­tive in­fec­tions, as at Sat­ur­day, Au­gust 13, was 162.  This is a drop from the pre­vi­ous week (Ju­ly 31 to Au­gust 6, 2022), at which time there were 160 ac­tive cas­es.

In terms of hos­pi­tal­i­sa­tions for COVID-19, the Health Di­vi­sion re­ports that 18 peo­ple are hos­pi­talised.  Ten of these pa­tients are un­vac­ci­nat­ed against the dis­ease, while the vac­ci­na­tion sta­tus of two pa­tients is un­known, and the re­main­ing six pa­tients are ful­ly vac­ci­nat­ed.

The To­ba­go COVID-19 up­date al­so re­ports that pa­tients con­tin­ue to sur­vive from the dis­ease as 218 peo­ple were cer­ti­fied as re­cov­ered from COVID-19 dur­ing the pe­ri­od Au­gust 7 to 13, 2022.

A to­tal of 10,282 in To­ba­go have re­cov­ered from COVID-19 since March 2020—up from 10,064 the pre­vi­ous week.
