Tobago man granted $15,000 bail for Breach of Protection Order

A 57-year-old To­ba­go man was grant­ed bail in the sum of $15,000, when he ap­peared be­fore a Scar­bor­ough Mag­is­trate last week, charged with Breach of Pro­tec­tion Or­der.

The ac­cused ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Du­ane Mur­ray, in the Scar­bor­ough Mag­is­trates’ Court, on Fri­day 26th June 2020, where he plead­ed not guilty to the charge and was grant­ed bail with sure­ty.

The mat­ter was ad­journed to Fri­day 24th Ju­ly 2020.

Of­fi­cial po­lice re­ports state that the fe­male vic­tim re­port­ed to po­lice that on Thurs­day 25th June 2020, she was at home her To­ba­go home with the ac­cused, when they got in­to an ar­gu­ment. Dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, the ac­cused made threats to kill her, there­by breach­ing a Pro­tec­tion Or­der which had been is­sued at the Scar­bor­ough Mag­is­trates’ Court in Feb­ru­ary 2020, for a pe­ri­od of three years.

The vic­tim made a re­port to the Mo­ri­ah Po­lice Sta­tion and the mat­ter was re­ferred to the To­ba­go Di­vi­sion’s Gen­der-Based Vi­o­lence Unit (GB­VU).

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were spear­head­ed by Supt. Claire Guy-Al­leyne, while charges were laid by PC Sandy, both of the GB­VU.
