A 43-year-old female security officer in Tobago is nursing a gunshot wound after she allegedly discharged her company-issued firearm. The incident occurred on Friday.
According to police reports around 12:30 pm, Alicia Bruce of Tranquillity Heights, Signal Hill, an Estate Constable employed with Quality Security Company was on duty at the Eastern Credit Union building, Milford Road, Bon Accord, when the incident occurred.
Guardian Media understands that Bruce was supervising maintenance work being done to the air condition unit at the ATM volt when she accidentally shot herself on her right leg with her company issued glock 9mm pistol.
She was rushed to the Scarborough General Hospital for treatment and was and later transferred to the Mt Hope Medical Sciences Complex, where she is warded in a stable condition.
A glock 9mm pistol, containing 14 rounds of ammunition was retrieved at the scene.
Sgt Alleyne of the Crown Point Police Station is continuing investigations.
