Tobago police are urging motorists to be cautious on the island’s roads after a car plunged over a precipice and into the sea following a two-vehicle collision along Milford Road, Lambeau, yesterday morning.
One man was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital after the accident, which happened around 7.45 am.
Police said one vehicle was travelling east along Milford Road when it came into contact with another vehicle driven by a man identified as Anthony, who was travelling in the opposite direction.
Following the collision, one of the vehicles left the roadway and ended up in a drain.
The driver was taken to the Scarborough Regional Hospital in a responsive condition. Police said no serious injuries were reported.
Speaking at the scene, Corporal Vincent of the Tobago Police Division said drivers must be mindful of road conditions and not focus only on speed.
“Drivers have to be mindful of the road conditions in Tobago. You have to proceed cautiously. Take allyuh time. Speed is not everything. Take your time, get where you want to go safely,” he said.
Police said enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the accident are continuing.
