A truck driver is dead after being hit by a fallen tree.
The unnatural death of Truck driver Jerry Evans Joseph, 59 of First Caigual Road, Sangre Chiquito has left family members confused.
According to police reports around midday on Friday a group of men were engaged in logging operations in a forested area, off Lp #97 1st Caigual Sangre Chiquito about two miles inside the forest, when Junior Felix, 45, of North Eastern Settlement, Marigold Drive, Sangre Grande was in the process of felling a tree when he informed a man known to him as Jerry Evans Joseph age 59 of 1st Caigual Road, Sangre Chiquito to move out of the way and continued cutting.
After the tree fell, he reportedly turned in the direction of Jerry and observed him rolling down a hill with blood oozing out of his mouth and ears.
Felix approached Joseph and placed his jersey against his head in an attempt to stop the bleeding.
A male relative who rushed to the scene reported seeing the body of Joseph lying on the grass with blood oozing from his ear and nose.
He appeared to be lifeless and was removed from the forest by the youths of First Caigual, placed in an EHS ambulance and rushed to Sangre Grande Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
When Guardian Media visited the relatives at their Caigual home, they all reported being in shock and confused as to the real truth of how Joseph died.
Debra Joseph, Joseph's niece said she can’t understand how and why he went to Non-Pariel Estate and ended up in tragedy.
“I am confused as he was employed with Ali’s Transport and worked every day. “ When I received the call I was doubting myself to know my uncle was a healthy man, free of all ailments and only on Thursday he ate dinner at my home and left.”
She believes the truth will come to light and has left everything in the hands of God.
