The Trinidad and Tobago Inter-Island Transportation Company Limited (TTIT) says mechanical problems on the T&T Spirit this morning prevented the vessel from vacating the berth at the Port of Spain Ferry Terminal, causing delays for passengers aboard the Buccoo Reef.
Now TTIT has cancelled today's sailings of the T&T Spirit.
The Buccoo Reef departed Scarborough at 6:30 a.m.. It was scheduled to dock at 9:30 a.m. but remained approximately 1.6 kilometres offshore as it waited for the T&T Spirit to clear the docking ramp. The crew reportedly resolved the issue, and the berth was cleared by midday.
To accommodate affected travellers, TTIT said the Buccoo Reef will carry passengers from the T&T Spirit’s 6:30 a.m. sailing at 3:00 p.m. today, and from the 4:00 p.m. sailing via the 6:00 p.m. departure. Tomorrow, the Buccoo Reef will depart Tobago at 10:30 a.m. and Trinidad at 4:00 p.m. to cover the Galleons Passage schedule.
TTIT apologised for the inconvenience and urged passengers to follow real-time updates at www.ttitferry.com or on official social media pages.
