The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission has started to restore electricity supply across the country following the passage of Hurricane Beryl in Tobago and tropical storm conditions in Trinidad.
The all-clear to operate was given by emergency authorities earlier on Monday.
In Tobago, restoration efforts commenced at approximately 12:30 pm, with the first segment of the Northside Feeder restored, bringing relief to most customers from Scarborough to Mason Hall.
However, a few pockets within this zone are still awaiting service.
T&TEC said its teams were assessing damage and repairing infrastructure in other parts of the island.
The adverse weather primarily affected Tobago and east Trinidad, resulting in 62 confirmed area outage reports as of 2 pm Monday. T&TEC said out of the 62, there were 33 outages reported in Tobago.
T&TEC has assured customers that, despite challenges such as fallen trees, debris, landslides, and flooding, crews will work diligently to complete the restoration as quickly as possible.
