The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Mounted Branch marked 175 years of policing tradition and service on Saturday with a commemorative ride through Woodbrook and St Clair.
The event brought together serving and retired members of the Mounted Branch, members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and members of the public.
Ag W/Supt Renee Bain-Keller, head of the Mounted Branch, led the commemorative activities, which honoured generations of officers who have served in the Branch.
The Woodbrook and St Clair ride brought the historic presence of the Mounted Branch into the communities, allowing members of the public to witness the horses and mounted officers first-hand.
Among those supporting the event were members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, including Commander R Frederick of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.
Retired members of the service, including Retired Sgt Thomas and Retired Cpl Gittens, also participated, highlighting the connection between past and present members of the nation’s security services.
The 175th anniversary provides an opportunity for the TTPS to reflect on the evolution of the Mounted Branch and recognise the contribution of officers who have served throughout its history.
The commemorative ride celebrated the Branch’s discipline, professionalism, sacrifice, achievement and national service, while underscoring its enduring place in Trinidad and Tobago’s policing heritage.
