Officials in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service are currently engaged in the testing stage of the roll-out of an online application for a Firearm Users Licence (FUL).
This was revealed on Tuesday during a media briefing at the Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain.
Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro said the TTPS Digital FUL Application Forum had utilised 1,000 applicants in this first instance.
He advised that a recent advertisement in the printed media had published the file numbers of the FUL holders that were required to get in touch with the Firearms Permit Unit, “In order to facilitate the process.”
Guevarro said, “This is a testing stage, and we would look and we would monitor and see how it goes before we can make particular tweaks to it.”
The top cop added, “This is taking it into a different direction.”
“Digitising the application of FUL files will indeed be of great benefit, not only to the TTPS but for the members of the public.” - Anna-Lisa Paul
